A modern take on wabi-sabi: the custom colour on this project is neither black nor white, sitting in the charcoal range between the two.

About this project

This single-storey home in Japan wears a custom-coloured yakisugi in a deep, textured charcoal, with timber-framed glazing and a silvering deck softening the palette. The textured char keeps the surface alive where a painted board would sit flat.

Custom colour matching is available across the Studio Tsukuru ranges, so a project is not locked to the standard colours. The simplest path is to start from the closest stock finish and adjust from there.
